June 5th - Trinity Sunday

What or Who is the Trinity?  The Trinity is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, they are each individual but also one being who lives in relationship with each other and we are invited into that relationship. How cool is that?!

Even us adults see the Trinity as a mystery and we don't always understand it. But that's ok we know that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all love us and guide us and that's what really matters!

We are going to do a craft today that helps us think about the three parts of the Trinity God (Father), Jesus (Son) and Holy Spirit.  What do you think about or feel when you hear about these three parts?  Think about this for a bit and then start this craft...

Holy Trinity Spinners

You will need:

  • collage paper/ feathers etc or felt tips
  • blue tack
  • glass pebbles or a stone from your garden
  • bottle tops
  • card
  • a circle split into three equal parts drawn or printed onto card

On each third of the circle use colours, shapes and symbols to draw or collage your thoughts/ feelings/ ideas about each person of the Trinity.  Then go find your parent and tell them why you chose to put what you did on each section of the circle.

Turn the spinner over and stick the flat side of a glass pebble to the middle of the circle.

On the front of the spinner, blue tack a bottle top to the middle.

Twist the bottle top to spin the spinner and see how the three parts blend into one!

May 29th - Pentecost

What you will need:

  • Craft Foam or Card Stock in Pretty Colors
  • Craft Foam Shape Stickers or Paper Stickers
  • Markers
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch

What to do:

1. Cut a piece of craft foam in a circle then cut around in a spiral until you get to the middle of the circle.

2. Have your children decorate the spiral with fun foam shapes and markers.

2. Hang it up with a piece of yarn. This craft will remind your children that the Holy Spirit is present even though we can't see it.

May 15th - Movement Prayer

In the Book of Acts Chapter 17 Verse 28 (Can you find this in your Bible at home?) it says, 'In him we live and move and have our being.'

So how do we welcome God's love into our whole lives?!  Watch the video below and think about how we can serve God in all part of our lives.

May 8th - Trusting God

In this week's Bible reading Jesus says to his disciples, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me."

Some things to think about...

  • I wonder what it feel like to trust God?
  • I wonder what we should do when we are worried?
  • I wonder if God takes care of us and protects us?

April 3rd - Prayer Sticks: A Holy Home Activity

Did you know that you can talk to God? If you are feeling happy, scared, sad or uncertain, God is there to listen. It is also important for us to also listen to what God is saying to us! Try this activity with your family to remind you to pray every day!

Materials Needed

  • Multicolor popsicle sticks or craft sticks
  • Permanent markers
  • Mason jar or other container

How To Do It

  1. Choose your container. The containers used to hold these prayer sticks can range from simple flower pots and mason jars to highly decorated containers.
  2. Write prayer intention on your craft sticks. I wanted to expand my daughter’s understanding of prayer, so I started with four types of prayer: adoration, petition, intercession, and thanksgiving. Using craft sticks in a variety of colors, I wrote the type of prayer on the corresponding color.
    • Red = Adoration (praising God)
    • Blue = Petition (asking God for our own needs)
    • Green = Intercession (asking God for the needs of others)
    • Purple = Thanksgiving (thanking God for our blessings)
  3. Place your prayer sticks inside the container and set it on the kitchen table or other common space in the home.
