We all enjoyed our coffee time at the end of March and Sneak Peek at the Shelbourne Community Kitchen’s new commercial kitchen.
Now it's our turn to help The Kitchen. Kim Cummins, Executive Director of Shelbourne Community Kitchen, comments: "The new space is brighter, more accessible, and now includes an exciting commercial kitchen...all to better serve the many individuals and families who rely on The Kitchen each month.
But while the renos are complete, the long renovations phase combined with the growing need for support has impacted our food supplies, and the Pantry shelves are in need of some love! That’s why the “Stock Up the Shelves” campaign has been extended until May 30th, and our community’s support is more important than ever.
The most helpful way to give is through cash donations, which stretch much further thanks to The Kitchen’s food purchasing partnerships. Every $1 donated can provide up to $3 worth of nutritious food!
To donate easily: Go to The Kitchen’s Canada Helps link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/31593
(At St. Luke’s, you can also put a donation in one of your envelopes and note that it is for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen. We collect the monetary donations throughout the month and send a cheque to the Kitchen at the end of the month.)
If you prefer to donate food, we also have our Spring Into Action Food Drive on the go right now, and donations of non-perishable food items are accepted gratefully. (At St. Luke's, please put your donations in the basket in the church and by the church office in the hall.)
At this time, the Shelbourne Community Kitchen is most in need of the following 5 items: pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, canned plain beans, baked beans, and canned proteins such as tuna, chicken, or ham.
Thank you for helping us nourish our neighbours! Your generosity fills more than just shelves... it fills hearts, too."
