Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? The Shelbourne Community Kitchen Society is currently inviting new members to join its Board of Directors—a team of dedicated individuals who help guide programs that make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of local families.

In 2024 alone, The Kitchen distributed over 70,000 pounds of groceries to more than 1,600 adults and nearly 700 children, prepared almost 1,900 meals, and harvested over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce from its community gardens. Behind all of this is a small staff team and over 200 incredible volunteers—plus a Board that ensures every decision reflects dignity, inclusion, and compassion.

We’re especially looking for people with skills in accounting (Treasurer), non-profit administration (Secretary), human resources, board governance, grant writing, or experience in food service and business management. But most importantly, we’re looking for people who care.

Top 5 Reasons to Join:

  • Veggie puns galore (Who doesn’t love a good chard joke?)
  • Make a real impact on local food security
  • Be rooted in community with a welcoming and inclusive team
  • Learn and grow through non-profit governance and leadership
  • Enjoy heartwarming meals and meaningful connections

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
