The name of the group, St. Luke’s CARE Team, stands for: Connecting, Active, Resources, Education. St. Luke’s CARE Team met for the first time on April 11, 2015 and continues to meet every couple of months. Current members of the CARE Team are: Rev. Daniel Fournier, Sandra Lindberg, David and Sylvia Sinclair, Bonnie Watkins, and Rosemary Watts.
All members of the CARE Team have a current Criminal Record Check on file, have completed Safe Church training, and have taken a basic or advanced Pastoral Care Team Training workshop from South Island Centre for Counselling and Training.
The Mission Statement of the CARE Team is: St. Luke's CARE Team is entrusted by God, led by the Rector, and authorized by Parish Council to provide confidential pastoral care, support and nurture to all people within the parish community.
Pastoral care is offered through:
- Pastoral visits,
- Ensuring all people on the parish list stay connected,
- Welcoming newcomers, and
- Providing information on resources available in the local community.
All parishioners can offer pastoral care when we ensure St. Luke’s is a caring and welcoming community. We can all be aware of, and welcome, visitors and newcomers. As well, we can make ourselves aware of the resources which are available in the community. A binder of Resources for Seniors is in St. Luke's Library in the Lounge.
We can also all help to ensure that everyone on the parish list stays connected to the St. Luke’s community. If you know of someone who is sick at home or in hospital and would like a visit from Daniel, please let Bonnie in our Parish Office know. Call 250-477-6741 or e-mail [email protected].
Or let one of the CARE members know and they will pass the information along to Bonnie. Please help St. Luke’s CARE Team in supporting, nurturing, and caring for all people in our St. Luke’s community.
