In 1970, Victoria organ builder Hugo Spilker built the pipe organ at Broad View United. Now, after 50 years of service to the congregation, the pipe organ is destined for a new home. As a swan song, an organ recital by PJ Janson planned for Wednesday, August 25th, at 7 pm.
The programme includes JS Bach’s Prelude & Fugue in G Major ( BWV 541 ), Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beautiful prelude on Rhosemedre, and compositions by the famous Vancouver composer Denis Bédard.
PJ Janson will be joined by oboist Anna Betuzzi to perform some rarely-heard pieces for organ and oboe by JL Krebs, as well as the unpublished Meditation on Hymn Tune 'Michael' by the Edinburgh composer Steve Richer.
