National Indigenous Peoples Day is June 21, 2025. Historically, many Indigenous communities have celebrated at this time of year. It's also the summer solstice and the longest day of the year. This commemorative day was announced in 1996 and renamed in 2017.
The Government of Canada provides funding opportunities for community events on June 21, as well as for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30.
