THIS WEEK’S PARISH NEWS – June 20 –27 (**New Items, *Revised Items)

*The service today (June 20th) and the Sundays going forward will be livestreamed from the church – Join the livestream link to listen to the prelude starting at 10:00 am The service will also be recorded to watch later.

Coffee Time via Zoom will start at 11:15 am after the livestreamed service. Watch for the link, which will be sent out by e-mail and join us in your home via Zoom. If you have questions, please e-mail Barb Prescott. Hope to see you there.

**Fairway Market Community Shopping Cards - You are invited to take part in a new fundraising program using these reloadable cards, which are similar to the Smile Cards we've used in the past but these are for use at Fairway Markets. To take part in this program, please pick up your reloadable Fairway Market card from St. Luke's Office. Load or re-load your card at any check out counter at any of the ten Fairway Market stores on Vancouver Island. You may re-load between $20 and $500 each time and you can re-load the same card multiple times. St. Luke's automatically receives 5% from Fairway Market for every dollar loaded on the card. *Sound System Upgrade Appeal – Please read a letter from Daniel at the News page regarding an appeal for donations towards a very necessary upgrade to our sound system as livestreaming continues to be an important aspect of our ministry. Thank you to those who have already made donations through your envelopes or through Canada Helps. Donation to date total $1,810, 46% of the way to our goal of $3,900.

PWRDF Parish Information Session – June 30th, noon to 1 pm via Zoom. Anyone who is interested is invited to join this online event to learn more about PWRDF (Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund) to help build up this important ministry in the life of our diocese. *Country Grocer Save A Tape Program Update – Please continue to collect your Country Grocer receipts and turn them in to Bonnie at the Church Office, mail them to the Church Office, or put them in an envelope in the mail slot. To date, we now have $3,278.32 in grocery receipts, which is two thirds of the way towards our goal of collecting $5,000 in receipts to receive a $50.00 gift certificate. Well done, everyone! Registration is Now Open for This Year's Amazing Journey Day Camp, which will be held this year August 9th to August 13th. This small group program will be held from 9 am to noon outdoors at St. George's, Cadboro Bay. The program is for children who have completed Grades 1 to 5. Register by June 30th to receive Early Bird registration discount on the fees. The registration form is available at the News page.

*Seeking Housing – St Barnabas Church, at Begbie and Belmont, is preparing to welcome two interim priests-in-charge while their rector and his wife are on sabbatical. Father James Robinson and his wife will be with us for the month of September, and are looking for a rental or housesitting arrangement for that month. Bishop James Cowan, formerly of this diocese, his wife Annette, and Rory (a small, clean 13-year-old dog) are looking for a furnished, preferably two-bedroom apartment to rent from September or October to June. 2021 Plant Stand Fundraiser for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen – An informal Plant Stand will be set up at the end of the driveway at 3597 Thistle St. through to July 1st. Visit the plant stand to buy some plants for this year or to drop off some extras. To date, $4,000 has been raised for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen. See more information at the Events page.

St. Luke's Anniversary T-shirts are now available to purchase at the church office. The t-shirts, with the wonderful, colourful design chosen through the T-Shirt Design Contest, are available in sizes S-3XL at a cost of $20 each. As well as celebrating St. Luke's Anniversary, these t-shirts are a fundraiser for St. Luke's. See more information at the News page.
