THIS WEEK’S PARISH NEWS – April 11 – 18 (**New Items, *Revised Items)
*The service today (April 11th) and the Sundays going forward will be livestreamed from the church – Join the livestream link at 9:55 am to listen to the prelude. The service will also be recorded to watch later.
*Coffee Time via Zoom will start at 11:30 am after the livestreamed service. Watch for the link, which will be sent out by e-mail and join us in your home via Zoom. If you have questions, please e-mail Barb Prescott. Hope to see you there.
**Current Restrictions Will Remain through to the end of April – Considering the continuing increase in COVID cases across British Columbia, the bishop with the support of her archdeacons, has decided we will continue to worship online only for the remainder of April. **Bishop Anna Invites Youth of the Diocese for a Conversation – There appears to be broad-based interest in having the bishop host a meeting twice a year with youth from across the Diocese (perhaps via Zoom). See more information at the News page of St. Luke's website.
Mark Your Calendars and Start Your Seeds for a Plant Sale, May 29th in the parking lot like our sale last year. The time will be 11 am – 2 pm with plants dropped off in the morning prior to 11 am. So think about perennials you can divide and pot or plant some seeds for plants to sell. See information at the News page of St. Luke’s website.
Country Grocer Save A Tape Program – Please collect your Country Grocer receipts and turn them in to Bonnie at the Church Office, or mail them to the Church Office (or put in an envelope in the mail slot). Heather Simpson or Bonnie will tally the receipts into groups of $1000. Once we have $5000, Heather will take the receipts to Royal Oak Country Grocer and they will give us a Country Grocer Gift Card, 1% of $5000=$50. The money raised will be used towards an AED (automated external defibrillator) for the Church. We presently have an AED in the hall by the Church Office. St. Luke's Anniversary T-shirts are now available to purchase at the church office. The t-shirts, with the wonderful, colourful design chosen through the T-Shirt Design Contest, are available in sizes S-3XL at a cost of $20 each. The Shelbourne Community Kitchen is On the Move! The Kitchen is pleased to announce that they have secured a new location for a new expanded facility.The new premises will be located at 3787 Cedar Hill Rd, on the lower level of the Lutheran Church of the Cross. 2021 Plant Stand Fundraiser for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen – An informal Plant Stand will be set up at the end of the driveway at 3597 Thistle St. between May 1st and July 1st. So please keep this plant stand in mind as you start your seeds and divide your perennials and outdoor plants. Questions? Please talk to Barb Prescott. **Mark the Date for Synod 2021 – This session of Synod will be will be livestreamed via Zoom on Saturday, May 29th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Our Synod Reps, Sharon Hallsor and Sharon McMillan, will be attending on behalf of St. Luke’s. The proceedings will be be available for all to watch at the Diocesan website.
