The Reverend Canon Peter Parker

If you are “surfing the web” for information on churches in Victoria, you’ve found the site of a growing, multi-generational and multi-traditioned parish of the Anglican Church of Canada.

If you already belong to St. Luke’s and are looking for details of events past or future, you probably know just what to look for, and you would share your welcome to all newcomers and inquirers.

As the rector (since March of 2005) at St. Luke’s, I am thrilled to witness the steady growth and progress in the Spirit of Christ, as well as in our financial stewardship, and our worship, and the warmth of fellowship we enjoy. We work hard together, we have a lot of fun together, and we worship God in many and varied ways together.

Whether you are looking for

  • a quiet and traditional communion like our 8 am Sunday Eucharist,
  • or a peaceful midweek service, like our 10:30 am Eucharist each Thursday,
  • or an upbeat contemporary communion service with nursery and children’s programs like our 9:15 Eucharist
  • or a traditional Prayer Book communion service, like the 11 am Choral Communion service
  • or for evensong with sung canticles and responses,
  • or any combination of the above!

come and join us, for one Sunday, or for a few – or for the rest of your life! As well as finding a warm and welcoming worship space in a beautiful and historic building, I am confident you will find the space and the freedom to offer worship in Spirit and in Truth, such as God desires.

Ultimately St. Luke’s does not exist for the congregation, but for Christ, for the proclamation of the amazing Good News that Jesus Christ is alive, and brings healing and forgiveness and new life to all who call upon him.

I know, because I have seen it with my own eyes, that the people of St. Luke’s are here for those who are lonely and grieving and hurting. Rest assured you do not need to be in one piece and have your life together before you enter our doors. Few of us can claim that, but we know that God’s love and healing will be as close to us here as it will be anywhere on the planet.

Enjoy browsing our website, and before you leave this page, you might join us in offering one of our favorite prayers:

Draw your Church together, O Lord, into one great company of disciples, together following our Lord Jesus Christ into every walk of life, together serving him in his mission to the world, and together witnessing to his love on every continent and island. We ask this in his name and for his sake. Amen. [Book of Alternative Services, Anglican Book Centre, Toronto, 1983, p. 682]

And if you need to pray for someone specifically:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name for N__, your kingdom come for N__, your will be done for N__, on earth as it is in heaven. Give N__ today his/her daily bread, and forgive N__ his/her trespasses as he/she forgives those who trespass against him/her. Lead N__ not into temptation but deliver him/her from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
