Welcome to St. Luke’s Sunday School and Nursery. Please join us any Sunday morning. Family services are at 9:15 each Sunday with a 10 am service on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

A Nursery Program is available for babies to 3 year olds in the basement of the church and parents may take their children there before the start of the service. They usually bring their children back into church just before communion so that they can receive a blessing at the altar rail. Parents, grandparents and other parishioners volunteer in the nursery on a rotating schedule. If you would like to help in the nursery, contact Gillian Bloom or the Church Office for more information.

St. Luke’s Sunday School features programs for children aged 6-9 years. Older children and youth are invited to take part in the Youth Program. Sunday School starts in the hall at 9:15 am each Sunday except on the 3rd Sunday of the month when it starts at 10 am. After Sunday School, children join their parents in church before communion so that they can go with their parents to the altar rail to receive communion or a blessing.

Our dedicated, screened volunteer staff have prepared an exciting year for your children’s spiritual, social, and emotional growth in Sunday School. We have Four teams of two core teachers who have designed a curriculum with your children in mind, plus a team of caring assistants, who are also screened, to keep things running smoothly. Families can look forward to something a little different each week of the month, and on the months when a 5th Sunday happens (October, January and May), expect something completely different!

Week One: Living the Story with Lis and Laurie: Jesus often told stories to illustrate truths, and our own lives are like stories too. The children can get ready to listen to, but also to dramatize, Bible stories, modern day interpretations, and especially, the stories of the work of God in their own lives. With Laurie, the 6-9 age group are invited to try on costumes, make up small skits, and tell their stories in active and engaging ways. With Lis, the 3-6es will do finger plays, sing songs, and work with “Godly Play” type dramatic figures, among other activities, to help busy fingers and minds show what they know and hear from their Creator.

Week Two: Snips and Snacks with Carol and Lynn: Children should be prepared to get their hands – and possibly the rest of themselves – grubby, on the second Sunday of the month! With Carol, the 3-6es will be making beautiful crafts, and with Lynn, the 6-9 year olds could be cooking in the kitchen, or everyone could be outside in God’s creation. No matter where they find themselves, your children will be getting their hands into it. Your children will be inspired to create, serve, and care for God’s world and the people in it.

Week Three: Play It! with Sharon and Heather: Whether active, cooperative, creative, or just plain competitive, your kids will be challenged spiritually, mentally and sometimes physically, through games. Sometimes they will play as a large multi-age group, while other times they will separate into their two age groups. Kids should wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and be ready to experience the joys and the challenges of life with the Spirit!

Week Four: Rock’n’Riddles with Sue and Tara: Every fourth Sunday, your kids will hear a different Bible story with a different challenging riddle or puzzle. The 6-9’s will work through a series of fun, discussion-starting “riddle” type questions, while the 3-6es will explore the story through “Godly Play” type figures and other tactile experiences. They’ll discover that through all of life’s questions and Riddles, Jesus remains their Rock!

As well as Nursery and Sunday School Programs on Sunday mornings, there are a number of other opportunities for families at St. Luke’s. See Recent Bulletins or contact the Church Office for more information.
